Below you can find a number of courses to help you plan your retirement, seek pension information and support staff with their financial wellbeing. 

Understanding Your Pension Changes

Course Summary:

This course is designed to provide NHS employees with an overview of the key pension changes resulting from the public sector age discrimination ruling (sometimes referred to as the McCloud remedy).

​

Aimed at:

  • Employees who are affected by the age discrimination ruling are employees who:

  • Joined the NHS Pension Scheme on or before 31 March 2012; and

  • Were a member of scheme on or after 1 April 2015; or

  • Who left service after 31 March 2012 but returned within 5 years

​

Learning Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the key issues around the public sector age discrimination remedy

  • Explain terminology relating to the changes

  • Understand when and how affected members will receive a choice on how to take their past benefits

  • Learn about the 2015 career average scheme and how final salary benefits are preserved

  • Understand the NHS Pension Scheme retirement flexibilities that are available

Your Finanical Wellbeing

Course Summary:

This course has been designed to identify key topics that will help employees strengthen their financial wellbeing by enabling them to make informed decisions when it comes to their financial planning.

Aimed at:

  • Employees wishing to take control of their finances.

Learning Objectives:

  • Help employees understand their take home pay

  •  Help employees take stock of their current financial position, discuss the benefits of budgeting and explore options of how to cut costs

  • Highlight the different types of borrowing and how to manage debt and improve credit scoring

  • Help employees understand the State Pension and different types of workplace pensions

  • Understand the next steps and where to receive further guidance and investments

Planning Your Retirement

Course Summary:

To encourage a positive and realistic approach to a financially secure retirement and help employees make informed choices about retirement.

  • Employees, regardless of grade considering retirement or for those who have just started thinking about retirement plans.

Understanding Your Pension Tax Allowances

Course Summary:

This course is designed to provide employees with an overview of the key issues relating to the Annual and Lifetime Allowances. Awareness and understanding of both pension limits is essential to avoid additional tax charges and to maximise available tax relief.

Aimed at high earners who are:

  • Looking to maximise their pension savings, and/or

  • Concerned they may exceed the Lifetime Allowance at retirement

​​

Learning Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the key financial planning issues around the Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance

  • Explain the terminology relating to the Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance

  • Understand how the allowances are calculated
